The family of Timothy Weber has settled its medical malpractice and wrongful death claim against Heartland Regional Health Center for $725,000.00

On April 14, 2008, Mr. Weber went to Heartland Urgent Care with stomach complaints. Mr. Weber was examined by a nurse practitioner, but not by an actual physician. He was discharged two hours later, without having been tested or treated for gastrointestinal bleeding. Approximately four hours after his discharge, Mr. Weber was discovered by his wife, unconscious in the family home. Mr. Weber was pronounced dead at 5:40 p.m. His cause of death was later determined to be hemorrhagic gastritis.
