St. Joseph, Missouri truck accident attorney, James Montee, and St. Joseph, Missouri truck accident attorney, Russ Purvis have reached a settlement on behalf of their client for injuries received in a Dekalb County, Missouri truck accident.

Ora Redmond, age 58, was driving her 2004 Chrysler Concord eastbound on US 36 Highway approaching I-35 in DeKalb County on November 22, 2011. It was 6:37 a.m. and lightly raining. Igor Andonoski was westbound driving a semi tractor with a flatbed loaded with granite when he made a left turn crossing the eastbound lanes of US Highway 36 attempting to drive south on I-35. Andonoski drove into the path of Redmond causing Redmond to strike the trailer.

Ora Redmond suffered multiple rib fractures and a right hip fracture with femoral head dislocation. Three days after the accident Redmond underwent surgery of her right acetabular fracture and neuroplasty of her sciatic nerve. The initial surgery failed and a month later Redmond’s right hip surgery was converted to total hip arthroplasty.

Redmond developed an MRSA infection and underwent surgical debridement two months after the accident. Attempts at controlling the infection with antibiotic care failed and it was determined that the infection was embedded in the hip hardware. In May 2012 Redmond underwent revision of her right total hip arthroplasty with head and liner exchange and debridement.

Ora Redmond spent a total of 23 days in the hospital for her four hip surgeries. Her original billed medicals exceeded $300,000. Redmond’s treating surgeons testified she was susceptible to the reoccurrence of her MRSA infection and likely would need another total hip replacement in her lifetime due either to reinfection or hardware life expectancy.

Defendants disputed liability and contended Redmond was at fault for driving in excess of the 45 mph speed limit in conditions of daybreak and rain.

Defendants agreed to pay their policy coverage after depositions of Redmond’s treating medical providers.
