Marcia Evans was injured when a Freightliner tractor, pulling an empty hog trailer, failed to stop for a stop sign, and pulled into the path of the Marcia Evans’ vehicle.
Suffering from a fracture to her right femur, Ms. Evans was life-flighted to a hospital in Kirksville, Missouri, where she underwent surgery to rod her femur. After a six-day hospital stay, she was released.
Following her release from the hospital, Ms. Evans developed complications. In December of 2004, the original rod was surgically removed, and replaced with a shorter rod. After the second surgery, Ms. Evans began a course of rehabilitation that involved physical therapy and aquatic exercise.
After Ms. Evans filed suit, the case was resolved at a mediation for $600,000.00
